The Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano) at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) – a non-profit organization overseen by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation (MCTI) – offers a position as Research Scientist for highly-motivated candidates to lead cutting-edge experimental research on Nanofabrication and Quantum Measurements of Spin Qubits in Silicon.


Main Activities


The future Research Scientist on Nanofabrication and Quantum Measurements of Spin Qubits in Silicon is expected to:
• Establish and coordinate a solid and internationally competitive experimental research program on Nanofabrication and Quantum Measurements of Spin Qubits in Silicon;
• In collaboration with CNPEM staff and researchers, contribute to the development of an open and multiuser nanofabrication center, in his/her area of expertise;
• Seek and promote technological innovation that could benefit the Brazilian society by establishing partnerships with entrepreneurial and industrial sectors;
• Seek research funding from international and national funding agencies, and/or the private sector;
• Mentor graduate students and interns, and supervise technical staff.


Required Qualifications


Ph.D. degree in Physics, Engineering, Materials Sciences, or related Fields
Hands-on experience on nanofabrication facilities and/or electrical measurements in the quantum regime (RF engineering, electron-spin resonance, cryogenics) is a must. Working experience after the Ph.D. on experimental research with a strong record of publications in the field of quantum technologies is desirable, but not required. No previous experience on either fabrication or quantum measurements of spin qubits in silicon specifically is required. Exceptional candidates with strong interest but limited experience will be sent abroad for a two-year visiting scholar position in a world-renowned research group on silicon quantum devices to acquire it.
