With an innovative proposal to prepare future scientists, Ilum School of Science is an initiative of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), a Social Organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovations (MCTI). Non-profit and free of charge for students, it is funded by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and was established in 2021, with the first students starting in 2022. Ilum offers a three-year full-time undergraduate degree in Science, Technology and Innovation, Bachelor’s level.

With the highest grade by INEP (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira), the course provides a solid scientific base, in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary way. The curriculum includes classes in the areas of life sciences, material sciences, mathematical languages, and humanities, for a comprehensive education of its students, based on ethics and cooperation in the pursuit of answers and solutions to the global issues of the modern world.
