!important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">O crescimento econ\u00f4mico e populacional aliados \u00e0 tend\u00eancia de urbaniza\u00e7\u00e3o gerar\u00e3o uma demanda crescente por energia e por produtos industrializados. Atualmente as rotas principais de transforma\u00e7\u00e3o industrial usam fontes f\u00f3sseis de mat\u00e9ria-prima, mas precisamos de solu\u00e7\u00f5es renov\u00e1veis e sustent\u00e1veis para produzir mol\u00e9culas r\u00e9plicas das derivadas de petr\u00f3leo. Al\u00e9m disso, a expectativa de aumento do consumo de produtos industriais, como por exemplo, pl\u00e1sticos, demanda alternativas para lidar com os res\u00edduos destes materiais. A biotecnologia pode criar oportunidades para novos modelos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o industrial de base biol\u00f3gica, com menores impactos ambientais, uso racional de recursos naturais e que estimule a implanta\u00e7\u00e3o de uma economia circular, promovendo tecnologias de baixo carbono e novos padr\u00f5es de comportamento. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">No \u00e2mbito internacional, h\u00e1 cerca de uma d\u00e9cada o Programa das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas para o Desenvolvimento Industrial e a Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o para Coopera\u00e7\u00e3o do Desenvolvimento Econ\u00f4mico v\u00eam emitindo relat\u00f3rios sobre o papel da biotecnologia. Em 2017, a National Academy of Sciences dos Estados Unidos j\u00e1 apontava tend\u00eancias como a industrializa\u00e7\u00e3o da Biologia. Com a descoberta do CRISPR-Cas como ferramenta molecular de edi\u00e7\u00e3o g\u00eanica, as possibilidades de P&amp;D aumentaram significativamente e, em 2021, o F\u00f3rum Econ\u00f4mico Mundial, reconhecendo a import\u00e2ncia do tema, implantou o Conselho Global de Biologia Sint\u00e9tica. A Comunidade Europeia, e mais recentemente os Estados Unidos, v\u00eam apoiando iniciativas para promover a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de bioprodutos e organizar o ecossistema de inova\u00e7\u00e3o em torno da tem\u00e1tica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">O Brasil pode assumir papel de protagonista nesse novo modelo global de produ\u00e7\u00e3o e consumo industriais e no enfrentamento de problemas agroambientais, como a substitui\u00e7\u00e3o de agroqu\u00edmicos. Isto requer aprofundamento no conhecimento cient\u00edfico e a capacidade de transform\u00e1-lo em biotecnologias, que agreguem valor \u00e0s vantagens comparativas brasileiras, como a nossa rica biodiversidade e a nossa abundante biomassa, que tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 diversificada e economicamente competitiva. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">O nosso grande desafio de P&amp;D \u00e9 a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de sistemas celulares, que atuem como biof\u00e1bricas para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de mol\u00e9culas de interesse industrial. A dimens\u00e3o do problema fica clara quando compreendemos que a natureza levou bilh\u00f5es de anos para evoluir e aperfei\u00e7oar tais microrganismos, e n\u00f3s pretendemos emul\u00e1-la criando solu\u00e7\u00f5es biotecnol\u00f3gicas ambientalmente corretas para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o e consumo industriais em um curto espa\u00e7o de tempo. Isso implica em obter genomas completos e precisos de comunidades microbianas, descobrir novas enzimas e fun\u00e7\u00f5es biol\u00f3gicas e desenhar sistemas biol\u00f3gicos com v\u00e1rios biocatalisadores que sintetizem mol\u00e9culas cada vez mais complexas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">No CNPEM temos compet\u00eancias e infraestrutura de ponta para integrar abordagens no estado da arte em biologia sint\u00e9tica e engenharia metab\u00f3lica e elucidar os mecanismos de biocat\u00e1lise em n\u00edveis at\u00f4micos e moleculares, utilizando fontes de luz s\u00edncrotron, microscopia eletr\u00f4nica e simula\u00e7\u00f5es computacionais incluindo mec\u00e2nica qu\u00e2ntica. Mas isso \u00e9 apenas o come\u00e7o da jornada. Os microrganismos de relev\u00e2ncia industrial integram bioprocessos. As suas intera\u00e7\u00f5es com o ambiente extracelular \u00e9 complexa e nem sempre previs\u00edvel; um desafio que cresce com o aumento de escala.
