General Information

The workshop is aimed to present synchrotron-based techniques that can be applied to Earth and Environmental Sciences. It will address strategic areas that are of relevance to the Brazilian and international scientific communities, which can benefit from the expertise of leading home and international researchers in the field.

The topics to be covered include:

  • Soil sciences;
  • Hidrology;
  • Atmospheric Sciences;
  • Biogeochemistry;
  • Mineralogy;
  • Paleobiology and Cultural Heritage.

The event is intended to attract current users of synchrotron techniques and newcomers who are developing research on the subject areas. The facilities of the LNLS will be presented, including relevant techniques, beamlines, experimental stations and sample environment. There will be ample room for discussion on the future facilities being developed for Sirius, the new Brazilian 3rd generation synchrotron light source.

Renowned specialists on the subject areas will deliver invited lectures. All participants, even non-synchrotron users, are welcome to showcase their research work, within the subject topics.

For this, we strongly encourage the participants to submit their work to be presented as poster or short communication during the event, even if it does not include synchrotron-based experiments.
