To be eligible, the candidate:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>must be a member of the LNLSUG;<\/li>\n<li>must hold a doctorate degree or be a senior researcher designated as principal investigator (PI) responsible for a research proposal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">All users registered in the SAU Online System can become members of the LNLS User Group (LNLSUG) and participate in the elections of the Users Committee as voters. I coordinate the Center for Research and Analysis of Engineering Materials (CEPAME), a Center for Multiuser Equipments at USP: https:\/\/uspmulti.prp.usp.br\/centrais\/editar_cadastro\/75. CEPAME currently employs advanced characterization tools, such as in-situ techniques with synchrotron light as well as lab X-rays and electron diffraction, to elucidate and understand the correlations between the composition, structure, manufacture and properties of engineering materials, coatings and surfaces. I fell in love with synchrotrons in 2000 during my first synchrotron trip to the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY when I was an undergraduate student at the TU Berlin. The thrill of doing science at a big facility, the science elucidated by a tunable brilliant photon source, the number of high-impact publications that could be generated in a single week-long visit!! Since then, I have also worked at the ESRF, BESSY and am since 2009 a regular user of the LNLS XRD facilities where I use synchrotron X-rays to probe the microstructure, internal\/residual stress, and crystallographic texture behavior of engineering materials. For the future, I expect to be able to work soon at the 4th generation SIRIUS photon source where I am planning to apply micro- and nano-wide and small-angle diffraction as well as computed tomography to better understand and further enhance the performance of engineering materials. More than 15 students and young scientist (under my tutoring or my colleagues\u2019) have collected data at the LNLS for the first time with me, and have also benefited from the availability of high quality powder diffraction data for their the work. The majority of my most important papers include LNLS data. For all these reasons, I\u00b4ve always tried to give back some of the many goods I\u00b4ve received from this unique institution. I have attended 10 RAUs and contributed my results for the LNLS Annual reports. I\u00b4ve been an ad-hoc reviewer of proposals and during the last years of UVX operation I was a member of the Proposal Review Panel. I felt honored by my colleagues when I was invited to join the RAU Scientific\/Organizing Committee in 2017 and even more Chairing the 28th RAU in 2018.
