About LNLS Annual Users’ Meeting

The Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), part of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), will hold the 30th edition of LNLS Annual Users’ Meeting (RAU) from 9 to 12 of November, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizing committee will promote the first RAU as a full remote and online event via Whova platform.

The online meeting aims to gather around 500 researchers who use LNLS scientific instrumentation to perform cutting edge experiments in areas such as Materials Science, Health and Pharmacology, Environmental Science  Energy, Biotechnology, X-ray Imaging, Oil and Gas, Chemistry, and others. The event will promote the exchange of experiences between users and debates on future facilities, which shall be in operation in the coming years.

RAU is an important forum for discussion, evaluation, and presentation of proposals for the improvement of the research projects to be performed at the new Brazilian synchrotron light source, Sirius – one of the most advanced synchrotron machines in the world. With the commissioning of Sirius, which has its first beamlines in final phase of assembling, the participation of the scientific community becomes essential to describe their needs and expectations for the new source. The RAU meeting is the ideal place to foster this debate.

About Whova Platform

Considering the welfare and health of everyone, the 30th RAU is being prepared to be virtually through a multipurpose and all-in-one platform for online events. Whova app will give us the opportunity to maintain the high standards and years of RAU’s tradition of connecting the synchrotron community. The platform gathers around 500 participants, speakers and exhibitors which will be able to:

  • Watch live plenary sessions and talks,
  • Attend to oral communications,
  • Navigate through e-poster sessions,
  • Interact freely with each other on live chats and video meetups.
  • Create many networking opportunities!

Also, virtual booths will be available for exhibitors to reach out to the community and get in touch with the attendees.

All registered participants will receive an email with the 30th Annual Users Meeting link that will give the access to the event app from 26 October, 2020.

Please, make sure to check your junk and spam mail boxes to guarantee you recieve the messages sent via Whova platform provider.

Due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, the organizing committee decided to hold the 30th edition of LNLS Annual Users’ Meeting as full remote and online event via Whova platform. By doing so we will be able to ensure a secure environment for participants, speakers, committee and everyone involved in the organization during the four days of RAU’s meeting.
