Power Converters are critical components in the performance and the operation of Particle Accelerators.

The Workshops in Power Converters for Particle Accelerators (POCPA) are organized every two years and are devoted to the specific field of Power Converters for Particle Accelerators. It aims to group specialists in this field from the particle accelerator laboratories worldwide for a two-day meeting and to organize a true round-table on selected topics, as well as status reports from laboratories.

The 6th POCPA Workshop, which will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first edition, will be hosted by Brazilian Sincrotron Light Laboratoy (LNLS), from September 24th to 26th, 2018. In this meeting, the main topic will be “Efficiency and Integration with Other Systems”.

The event will include visits to the LNLS accelerators, UVX and Sirius. It is also offered an optional 2-day trip to Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, right after the meeting.

Important pieces of information:

  • Fifty seats will be offered on a first come, first served basis – but the organization can filter registrations that don’t fit to the event’s field;
  • The lectures are going to be held in the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory Auditorium;
  • Lunches will be offered at CNPEM´s restaurant;
  • The official language of the workshop is English.

Organizers of the POCPA6 Workshop:  Cleber Rodrigues (LNLS), Jean-Paul Burnet (CERN) and Roberto Visintini (Elettra).

Scientific Committee: Frederick Bordry (CERN), Jean-Francois Bouteille (ESRF), Ju Wang (ANL), Hans-Joerg Eckoldt (DESY), Rene Kuenzi (PSI), Robert Lambiase (BNL).
