Description

The Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) will host the Vacuum Ultra-Violet Spectroscopy Workshop (VUVS). This one-day workshop will be held on November 8, 2024, as one of the satellite workshops of the 34th LNLS Annual Users Meeting.  

The workshop aims to bring together students, researchers, and professors who study atoms and molecules, as well as those interested in areas such as solid-state physics, electronic structure, and techniques of fluorescence and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The intention is to promote discussion, exchange of experiences, and assessment of the potential of spectroscopic techniques in the visible, UV, and VUV regions applied to the study of atoms, molecules, and solids. 

The 1st VUVS will feature invited experts from Brazil and abroad who will share their experiences in different areas, focusing on the use of 4th generation synchrotron radiation. Techniques such as ARPES and other methods involving radiation absorption above 5 eV will be discussed, considering the characteristics of the Sirius light source and its potential to elucidate complex problems at the frontier of knowledge in this spectral region.
