Selection Criteria

Given the limited number of participants, the following selection criteria will be applied to the workshop and symposium if the number of registrations exceeds our capacity: 

  1. Submission of work for poster presentation within the symposium thematic area.
  2. Academic background, prioritizing researchers, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and then undergraduate students
  3. Geographic distribution
  4. Gender balance

For the workshop, applicants will be required to submit a set of documents upon registration, including motivation and recommendation letters. 

Registrations options include two modalities:
  • Full event participation, including both the Pre-Event Workshop and the 2nd Symposium on Protein Design and Engineering
  • Symposium-only participation, convering only the 2nd Symposium on Protein Design and Engineering.

Registration Fees
Applicable to both Pre‑Event Workshop + Symposium and Symposium‑only participation

Undergrad students Students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (BSc/BA/Engineering), including trainees and interns. BRL 100.00
Graduate Students Master’s and PhD students currently enrolled in a graduate program. BRL 200.00
PostDoc Postdoctoral fellows and early-career researchers in postdoctoral positions. BRL 300.00
Professionals – Academic
/ Non-profit (Researcher/Staff/Management)
Includes researchers and staff affiliated with universities, research institutes, government, and non‑profit organizations. BRL 400.00
Professionals – Industry / For-profit (Researcher/Staff/Management) Includes professionals affiliated with for‑profit organizations (e.g., companies, startups, consultancies, private hospitals, publishers), irrespective of prior academic or research background. BRL 500.00
     
Registration fee includes: Access to scientific sessions, refreshments, lunches, and certificate of attendance.
     
Cancellation Policies    
Any changes and cancellations must be pre-notified in writing by email to eventos@cnpem.br.
Registration fees will be refunded, considering the deduction of the following administrative fees:
  • 10% on payments made by credit card and bank slip plus applicable taxes and fees related to the refund financial transaction;
  • 40% on payments made by international bank transfer (invoice) plus applicable taxes and fees related to the refund financial transaction.
Refunds will be made by credit card or bank transfer, depending on the original payment method after deduction of bank expenses and handling costs.
No refunds for cancellations made after September 4th, 2026.

 

Financial Support for Workshop Participants

Expression of Interest

During the application process, participants may request support for travel, accommodation, and/or a registration fee waiver. Please note: Requesting support does not guarantee approval, as funds are subject to availability.

Eligibility

To be eligible for financial support, candidates must:

  • Be selected for the pre-event (Oct 5–6) and for a poster presentation at the symposium (Oct 6–8).

 Additional Criteria (Subject to Funding)

Selection will also consider regional and gender diversity, as well as the applicant’s academic record.

Requirement for Awardees

Selected candidates must include in the supervisor’s recommendation letter a statement confirming that they do not have access to funding agency resources to cover travel costs for the event.
