To work at the Transmission Electron Microscopy group of the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano)



Main Activities


Developing and implementing research in transmission electron microscopy analysis techniques and methods, in accordance with CNPEM’s lines of research and interests, such as 4D-STEM, EELS, PDF, in situ, tomography, etc…
Acting to support the generation of innovation through involvement with company projects.
Acting in the training and dissemination of transmission electron microscopy within the scientific community in Brazil, through the organization of scientific events such as schools and workshops.
Guide and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in the exact sciences, engineering and related areas, in research work with an emphasis on the application of transmission electron microscopy techniques.
Developing and coordinating projects to be financed by funding agencies.
Work on the activities of the open facilities through scientific collaborations with users outside CNPEM, promoting the application of advanced transmission electron microscopy techniques.


Required Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or related areas.
PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or related areas.
Post-doctorate with experience in transmission electron microscopy (preferably abroad).
Experience with imaging techniques, electron diffraction and spectroscopy (e.g. energy dispersive X-ray and electron energy loss) by transmission electron microscopy.
Experience with spherical aberration corrected electron microscopy.
Experience with sample preparation for transmission electron microscopy.
Experience with image processing programs, electron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy spectroscopy.
Knowledge of techniques such as 4D-STEM, EELS, PDF, in situ, tomography, NCSI, etc.
Knowledge of statistical methods applied to the quantitative analysis of data obtained by electron microscopy (e.g. principal component analysis).
Advanced English.
