To work at the Transmission Electron Microscopy group of the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano)



Main Activities


Provide support to external and internal users pertaining to the applications of transmission electron microscopy techniques for problem-solving in materials science, from 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
Work on the implementation, development and innovation activities involving transmission electron microscopy techniques, methods and protocols.
Performing administrative tasks such as: registering items in the purchasing system and submitting purchase requests; requesting IT services, maintenance and issuing invoices (e.g., for transmission electron microscopy instrumentation leaving the country); sending correspondence and arranging courier services; assisting CNPEM and LNNano administration in identifying the institutional assets of the transmission electron microscopy laboratory.
Engaging in technical activities such as: managing the data processing room; refilling tanks with liquid nitrogen; assisting in the maintenance of the sample preparation laboratory for transmission electron microscopy in materials science; preparing samples for transmission electron microscopy; conducting basic maintenance on chillers, compressors, mechanical vacuum pumps, and other peripherals of transmission electron microscopes.


Required Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, engineering or related fields.
PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or related fields.
Experience with imaging techniques, electron diffraction and spectroscopy (e.g. energy dispersive X-ray and electron energy loss) using transmission electron microscopy.
Post-doctorate with experience in transmission electron microscopy is desirable.
Experience in sample preparation for transmission electron microscopy is desirable.
Familiarity with image processing programs, electron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy spectroscopy are desirable.
Proficiency in English.
