About the Workshop

The I Workshop on Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) will take place on October 29–30, 2026, at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), in Campinas, Brazil.

This first edition aims to bring together the Brazilian scientific community working with Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM). The workshop will provide space for scientific exchange, discussion of recent advances, and networking among researchers, students, and technical staff from different institutions.

The event will feature invited lectures from leading national and international researchers, oral and poster presentations from the community, and opportunities for interaction among participants. In addition, attendees will have the chance to learn about the experimental capabilities available at CNPEM, including the STM infrastructure of the In-Situ Growth Laboratory (LCIS) at LNNano

Objectives

The workshop aims to:

  • Bring together the Brazilian STM community
  • Foster national and international scientific collaborations
  • Promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences in surface science and related fields
  • Present recent advances, challenges, and emerging opportunities in STM research
  • Encourage future use of CNPEM facilities by the scientific community

Scientific Activities

The program will include:

  • Invited lectures by internationally recognized researchers
  • Contributed oral presentations
  • Poster sessions
  • Scientific discussions and networking opportunities
  • Presentations and visits to selected laboratories and facilities on the CNPEM campus
