VI IBSB - Industrial Biotechnology & Synthetic Biology

Biodiversity accelerating the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy

The sixth edition of the IBSB Workshop will gather researchers from the Brazilian institutions CNPEM/LNBR and INPA along with Sweden researchers to discuss how Biodiversity along with SynBio and Biocatalysis can accelerate the development and the transition to a circular and sustainable bioeconomy. This event will be held at the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA); see address.

Exploring microbial biodiversity genetic potential can provide novel enzymatic strategies for the deconstruction of biomass and for the design of genetic circuits aiming at the development of microbial cell factories for the bioproduction of valuable chemicals and fuels. Innovative bio-based technologies can, therefore, foster the development of a sustainable circular bioeconomy. This workshop is part of a collaborative network between researchers at LNBR, INPA, and Chalmers University of Technology aiming to consolidate this international network and fostering new collaborations between researchers from Brazil and Sweden.

About IBSB

The Industrial Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology (IBSB) event series is organized by the Brazilian Biorenewables National Laboratory (LNBR), one of the four National Laboratories of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). This initiative brings together the national scientific community, with the objective to promote joint initiatives on major challenges for the valorization of lignocellulosic materials.
